Deb's Country Baby Bath Cake Design Instructions:

This is a very large cake that was served at a Baby's First Birthday party. The party was a Western Theme as the family are ranch owner's.

I stacked nine 16" cakes on the cake board, of which, had filling between each layer. I then carved them into the shape of a half barrel. Once I got the desired shape, I covered them with butter cream. I cut several strips of white fondant and took a pizza cutter and distressed each strip to look like wood. I then applied a thin coating of brown icing color (mixed with a bit of lemon oil) with a paint brush. After the strips were just about dry, I then applied them to the cake.

I cut two strips of black fondant and wrapped them around the barrel to look like metal bands holding the barrel together. I covered the middle of the barrel with more fondant, painted it with the brown icing color mix and let it dry. After it was dry, I spread an inch thick amount of clear piping gel over the top to give the illusion of water.

Next, I inserted a wooden dowel into the cake board and covered it with Rice Krispie Treats. After that hardened a bit, I covered it with blue fondant and pushed a cheese grater on it to give it a textured look. The handle is a pre-cut of fondant that I allowed to completely dry. I inserted it into the RK Treat structure.

Then, I covered the cake board by applying a thin layer of butter cream over it and covering it with green fondant. I took a star piping tip and pressed it into the cake board to create the look of grass. I then used the Wilton daisy flower cutters to creat the white fondant daisies inserting tiny balls of yellow fondant for the flower centers.

The soap is fondant shaped into a rounded corner square where I then took small cookie cutter letters to spell the word Soap. The washcloth is a thin piece of fondant that was decorated with edible writing pens. The little western duckies are hand molded out of fondant and painted with icing coloring. The bubbles are rolled balls of white fondant.

The water is melted isomalt (sugar) that I formed into a tube shape, of which, I inserted one end into the RK Treat water pump and the other end directly into the barrel cake. After it completely dried, I covered the hardened sugar with clear piping gel.

That's it! This is my own original design.
