I made a
princess castle cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. The theme was Disney
Princesses, which included Cinderella, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty and Belle.
First I made a simple white cake and divided it into two 9X9 square pans.
While the cake was cooking, I iced 5 sugar cones with white icing and rolled
them in red sugar. I used pink tinted, fine sugar to fill the gaps in the
cones and to add a little "sparkle", then I set them to dry.
When the cake was done cooling, I cut off the corners of one of the
cakes and made a hole in the middle of it. This is to hold the sugared cones. I
iced the cake with the pink frosting and put some icing on the cut parts of the
cake to hold the cones in place.
I then used Twizzler Nibbles as
stone blocks on the cake to add some dimension. I also added sugar
letters to spell out "Happy Birthday" on the roof of the cake. I cut a KitKat
bar in half to make the door and for a final touch I added one red Smarties
to the top of the cones, securing with a dab of icing.
