MONSTER TRUCK MANEUVER - Divide guest into two teams. Give each team a pile of dirt or rocks and a big dump truck.. Working as a team, they must fill their dump truck as quickly as possible, then push it through a course of orange safety cones to the finish line.

WHEELBARROW RACES - Guests are divided into two lines side by side, facing an orange traffic cone about 20 feet away. The second player in each line (the pusher) grabs the ankles of the first player (the wheelbarrow) who "runs" on his hands.

Each team must proceed to and around the orange cone and back to their team. The third player in line next grabs the ankles of the second player and continues the race until all guests have run the race as both a "wheelbarrow" and as a "pusher". The team whose players complete the race fastest is the winner.

DEMOLITION - Prepare two balloons for each guest prior to the party - one yellow and one black. Inflate them and tie off with a long piece of curling ribbon. At the start of the game, players tie a balloon to each ankle.

The object of the game if for players to "demolish" each other's balloon "buildings" while avoiding getting their own stomped. The winner is the last player left with an intact balloon. This child party game idea requires that all players wear shoes, so no one's toes get stomped!

DYNAMITE! - Prepare two buckets with 20-30 filled water balloons in each - or more because kids will want to do this again and again. Divide guests into two teams and line them up behind a starting line. Give the first player on each team a large plastic serving spoon. About 20 paces away, place an empty bucket for each team.

The object of the game is for each team to transport as many sticks of "dynamite" (water balloons) to the work zone (empty bucket) using their plastic spoon as they can in a preset period of time. If they drop their dynamite and it "explodes", they must run back and let the next player in line take a turn. If it doesn't explode, they can try to scoop it up and continue the race.

The team with the most intact balloons in their work zone bucket when the whistle blows is the winner. The right combination of speed and skill is needed to master this game.

MUSCLE BUILDERS - Construction workers must have big muscles to do their jobs and this child party game idea helps them bulk up quick! Inflate up to 100 small balloons. Divide guests into two teams and select one guest on each team to be the "weakling". The remaining guests will be "personal trainers". Gather teams on opposite sides of the room and divide the balloons between them.

The weakling puts on one-piece long johns or any other simple jumpsuit type of clothing you may have. When you say "go", the teams of personal trainers must make their weaklings grow instant muscles by stuffing as many balloons as they can into their long underwear. Give teams one minute for this task.

When time is up - and you've taken lots of pictures! - remove and count the balloons for each team. The weakling with the most "muscles" or balloons, wins. This can be done more than once with new weaklings.

JOHNNY ON THE JOB - A child party game idea that involves "dress-up" with a twist! Children line up into two teams behind the starting line. Across the room, or about twenty paces away if outside, are two old rubber tires with a set of these items in each: construction worker's helmet and safety goggles, tool belt, work boots and work gloves.

At the starting signal, the first child on each team runs to the tire, puts on the hat, goggles, tool belt, boots and gloves, then sits on the tire and says "I'm ready for work!" They then take all the items off and run back to tag the next person in line. Each person repeats these actions until all have had a turn. The team who finishes first is the winner.

SKYSCRAPER - Divide guests into teams of two and supply them with a pile of sturdy building blocks. Teams compete to see who can build the highest skyscraper before it topples. If you have limited blocks, you can have playoffs with the winners of each competition to determine the ultimate skyscraper champion.

TIRE TOSS - Hang an old tire from a tree and give kids three tries to throw a ball through it. Move players farther away or swing the tire a little if it seems too easy.

TOOL TIME - Players sit in a circle and pass a plastic tool such as a hammer or wrench as music is played. The player holding the tool when the music stops is out. The music resumes and players are gradually eliminated. The last player left who is not holding the tool is the winner.

CONE TOSS - Prepare rings from large coffee can covers with the centers cut out. Divide guests into two lines, each facing a safety cone. Guests toss rings to try to ring the cones. The team whose players all get a "ringer" first is the winner.

BLIND DRIVER'S BLUFF - Blindfold the person who will be "It." Spin the blindfolded player around several times. Have the other players move around "It" making car and truck noises. "It" tries to locate the players by their sounds - and tag the closest one. The first player who is tagged becomes It," and the game continues.
