Sweet Circus Party Food


Try our quick and easy circus party food for your next carnival party, or anywhere people are gathered under the big top!

Adults and kids alike will enjoy this festival carnival style fare.
 

Carnival Caramel Apples

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
6-8 apples (medium to small)
Short wooden skewers or craft sticks

Combine all ingredients except vanilla in heavy pan. Cook to soft ball stage. Add vanilla. Dip apples on sticks to coat. May also be spread on with a knife. Place on wax paper lined cookie sheet in refrigerator.


Three Ring Circus Punch

1 can of Pineapple juice
1 liter of 7 up
1 liter of Hawaiian Punch
1/2 Gallon of vanilla ice cream
several pineapple slices
(variation: orange sherbet instead of ice cream)

Mix first three ingredients together, add ice cream to melt slowly, add pineapple slices for garnishment.

~ Circus Party Food ~ 

Clown Hat Dessert

Start with a nice round ball of ice cream on a plate. Press in colorful candy-coated chocolate bits, M & M's, colored nonpareils, or similar to make a clown face. Store in the freezer until serving time.   Top with the ice cream cone "hat" which you can decorate in advance using tube frosting, candies, etc.

Carousel Cupcakes

Serve with a carousel cupcake: top a cupcake with a frosted animal cracker prancing under a small paper umbrella.


Pinwheel Cookies-on-a-Stick

1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Red or green food coloring
Wooden sticks

Beat sugar and butter until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.Add combined dry ingredients; mix well. Divide dough in half. Tint one half dough with food coloring. Refrigerate all dough several hours or overnight.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll half of tinted dough to 1/4" thick 8" square on lightly floured wax paper. Repeat with half of untinted dough. Place one dough square on top of other; roll up. Cut dough into 1/2" slices. Press and flatten each slice into 2 1/2" circles. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Slide stick into each cookie to center; gently press dough around stick. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool. Repeat with remaining dough. Makes 2 1/2 to 3 dozen.
