HOW MANY CROCS IN THE JAR? -
Fill a jar with small plastic crocodiles or lizards . Have each child guess how many it takes to fill the
jar. Closest guess without going over wins the
jar.
I DIG CROCODILES - This
is ideal for those with a sandbox. Bury
several toy crocs in the sandbox and give each child a tool such as a
spoon or shovel to dig for crocodiles.
CROC SWAMP SEARCH - Place several numbered crocodile shapes in a kiddie pool. Each child is
given a fishing rod or stick with string and hook (paperclip) attached. When
they catch a croc, they are given a prize
which
corresponds to the number on that croc. Variation: Fill
the pool with small toys, rings, and wrapped candy - Items for $1 each! - which can easily be hooked by the fishermen.

CROCKY, CROCKY, CRIKEY! - Played like Duck
Duck Goose. Children sit in a circle. One child is "it" and walks around
the outside of the circle. S/he taps each child lightly on the head and says,
"Crocky..." At any time, s/he may tap a child and call out "CRIKEY!" instead of
"Crocky".
"Crikey" jumps up and chases "It" around the circle. "Crikey"
must try to tag "It" before "It" sits in Crikey's empty place. If "It" is
tagged, he is "It" again. If "It" is not tagged, then "Crikey" becomes
"It."
CROC RESCUE & RELOCATION - Start with two
large inflatable crocodiles (pool toys work great!). Make a double
obstacle course from whatever materials you have on hand - hay bales, slides,
traffic cones, old tires, tunnels, etc. At the beginning of each
course is an inflatable croc, at the end is a kiddie pool. Divide kids
into two teams.
The object
of this game is for each team to
"rescue" the croc and relocate him to his new home in the kiddie pool
"swamp". Kids must negotiate the obstacle course with their croc, using
teamwork, to relocate him safely. Not an easy task, with little kids
and a big old croc!!!
Keep the video
camera rolling for this one - there'll be lots of cheering and excitement and
kids will want to do it over and over.

DROP THE CROCS
- Start with small plastic crocs, snakes and lizards from Oriental
Trading Company
. Position a bottle or jar behind a
straight-backed chair. Have each player kneel on the
chair and drop the toys into the jar. Player who gets the most successful drops is the
winner.
REUNITE MOTHER &
BABY KANGAROO - This variation of "Pin the Tail" requires a
poster-sized picture of a kangaroo. Have the local copy shop enlarge a picture
from a child's book or online. Make several copies of the smaller picture, glue
onto posterboard and number them for each guest.
Each guest is spun
around 3 times and pointed at the poster to try to reunite the kangaroos - just
like Steve would do.
CROCS IN THE SWAMP - Have a
cassette player handy to play some fun upbeat children's tunes. Tape a length of
wrapping paper or plastic tablecloth folded in half on the floor. This is the
"swamp". (If you're ambitious, draw a few crocs on the tablecloth).
Guests
line up on one side of
the swamp and as the music is played they walk back and forth from one side
of the swamp to the other. When the music stops, anyone caught in the swamp
is eliminated. The last guest to escape the crocs in the swamp is
the winner.
Play
Elton John's Crocodile Rock for this game!

FEEDING FRENZY
- Draw and color a large crocodile on a piece of heavy cardboard. Cut
out the mouth area to form a large gaping hole. Prop the board against a
chair or other support. Have guests stand behind a line and "feed"
the crocodile by throwing bean bags, rolled socks, or even dog chew toys
(which resemble food) into the open mouth.
TARANTULA RACES
-
Have kids place a plastic spider on their nose and race across
the yard without dropping it.
SNAKEBITE - Fill a small
plastic container (film canister or prescription bottle) with dried beans or
beads. Tie in an old sock stuffed with newspaper or plastic bags. Add button
eyes and decorate your "rattlesnake".
Guests sit in a circle and pass
the "venomous" snake while snippets of music are played. The player
holding the rattler when the music stops (the one who is "bitten") is out. The last
player left is the winner.
SNAKE
SHOW AND TELL -
Contact your local herpetological society and ask if
they have an educator who will bring some reptiles to show. Snakes,
lizards, geckos, tarantulas will make a big hit with the
kids!
REPTILE ROUNDUP - Fill green and blue Easter eggs with
grow animals such as snakes, lizards, frogs, and crocs. These can be found
at Oriental
Trading Company . Hide them and have a hunt. Kids get to take
home their baby animals and watch them grow in water.
Watch an episode of Croc
Files to get kids calmed down after your exciting
games.
