Fairy Garden Hideaway
Set the mood by placing this bubble machine so you can shower party
guests with bubbles upon arrival. Place a few whimsical flickering fairies around shrubbery outside of under potted
plants if party is indoors. They twinkle intermittently to add just
the right touch of magic to the atmosphere.
Start with a simple metal garden
arch you can use indoors or out. Weave silk flower garlands,
lengths of tulle, and christmas lights around it. Crepe paper streamers
will help to make a magical setting too.
Next, place this beautiful Fairy Garden Hideaway in a secluded
area of house or yard. (It's perfect suspended under a tree!)
Make this a focal point in which guests can play games and open
presents. Tie bows with sparkle netting across the top
of each chair back.
The bows can be cut to any length, and even look lovely with tails trailing on
the floor. These bows hold their shape beautifully at a fraction of the
cost of wired ribbon.
A mixed spring floral bouquet makes a festive
centerpiece. Scatter a dozen or so silk flowers onto the
table to complete the look.
Tie a bunch of helium-filled
balloons to the birthday child’s chair, or tie one balloon to the back of each
chair.
Birthday bubbles and body jewels are always a big hit, and
both are perfect party starters. Let those who arrive early
get be-jeweled or play with bubbles while they wait for all the guests
to arrive.

Fairy Birthday Party Costumes
Make Fairy Skirts by starting with an
inexpensive piece of 60" wide floral fabric or lace. Sew the selvages (raw ends)
together. Make a waist casing by turning the top edge down and stitching. Thread
a piece of elastic through the casing to finish. Here’s another idea for making
a fairy dress.
Make Green Tunics from felt for boys at the party. Cut a long rectangle
of fabric and cut a head hole in the center. (A slit cut from one side of the
hole will allow a smaller hole and ease in getting on and off.) Stitch up the
sides, leaving arm openings. Wizard hats for the boys will complete the
fantasy!

fairy accents, not a complete costume, make fairy headbands with ribbons &
flowers or tie hair up with hologram hair twists or fairy fuzzy hair barrettes. You
might also consider fanciful masks to dress your little fairies.

How to Make Fairy Dust: (This project idea courtesy of
Brandy, Chico, CA)
Fill a small plastic
baggie with glitter. Cut a circle from colorful floral fabric and tie up the
baggie of glitter with a strand of ribbon. Attach a card with a picture of a
sleeping fairy and this poem:
Fairy love and fairy light Bring sweet dreams to me
tonight. Every night as a lie in bed, A sprinkle of fairy dust upon my
head. Fast asleep, I curl up tight, As fairies guard me through the
night. Each new day I greet the sun, Ready for more magic fairy fun.

Food
Here are some festive ideas for
fairy-friendly fare:
Serve dainty finger sandwiches, mini cutout
sugar cookies, and mini J-ello™ Jigglers. Sprinkle everything with edible
glitter, sparkling fairy style!
Rainbow Fairy Parfait
- Layer scoops of softened
green, yellow, orange, and pink sherbet into glasses. Smooth out each
layer before adding the next layer. Freeze until solid. Before serving, add a
fluffy “cloud” to the top (spoonful of Cool Whip™).
Chips and Dip - Hollow out a purple cabbage and
fill with the dip of your choice. Place on a platter and surround with
veggies or chips.
Fancy Fruit and Dip - Hollow out a a couple of cantaloupes or honeydew
melons, making fancy triangular cuts around the edges. Fill one with fruit
dip and the other with a fresh fruit salad or ambrosia.
Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
- Melt chocolate pieces in a double boiler. Dip
large strawberries and place on wax paper to harden. Drizzle with white
chocolate. Mmm Mmm Good!
Fruit Wands -
Assorted
fruit pieces on a small bamboo skewer with a slice of star fruit on
the tip
Strawberry Wafer Cookies
Cotton
Candy
Enchanted Fairy Punch
- Start by serving pink
punch. After you have placed a filled glass in front of each guest, add some
magic fairy dust (a few
strawberry pop rocksTM
candies ) to each one. Since this candy is processed with carbon
dioxide, it will snap, crackle, and pop when it comes into contact with a
liquid.
How to Make Edible Fairy Wands
Ingredients:
Pretzel Rods (long thick straight
pretzels) White frosting Knife or small spatula Small bowl Edible
star sprinkles Waxed paper
Spoon a small amount of frosting into a small bowl. Take out
only as much as you will need for your pretzels. Dip the pretzel in the
frosting, twist, and pull out of the frosting. Sprinkle the frosting with
star sprinkles. Press stars into frosting if needed. Place on waxed paper
in the refrigerator until set.
To serve, set in a colorful cup with frosting ends pointed
up.
