Karate Birthday Party Invitations

Karate Shirt "Ghi" Invitation - An 8 ½ x 11 piece of white cardstock will make 2 invitations. Fold it in half, then cut into two equal pieces . Cut a V in the middle top of each invitation and ½ inch V shapes from the middle of each side of the invitation. Tie a ½ inch black ribbon around the front of each card, looping through the V-hole on one side, and into the V-slit on the other.

Karate Shirt "Ghi" Cake - Bake a rectangular cake. Cut a V shape from the middle of the short end of the cake. Frost entire cake white. Add a strip of chocolate frosting across the middle with two ends hanging down for the black belt.

Photo Image Cake - Bring a picture of your child in karate dress to a bakery and have it put on the cake. You can also bring one of the party plates and they can use that image as well.

Karate headbands or Karate belts are easy to make from the fabric of your choice. Use your child as a model to measure.

A strip of black fabric is all you need to make black belts. White fabric with a few red and black chinese characters added in fabric paint makes a great karate headband.

Have your party at a local dojo and let sensei instruct party guests in the art of self defense. You can do these simple party games at home:

Breaking Boards - Provide "boards" made from foam strips painted brown and give each guest the thrill of breaking one.

Kicking Contest - Have a competition to see who can kick the highest.

Bean Bag Block - Have an adult throw bean bags and see if kids can block them using their newly acquired martial arts moves.
