A pirate costume is one of the easiest home made Halloween costumes.
You need just
a few materials found around the home for a real seaworthy little
buccaneer.
If
you can't find what you need in your own used clothes, try children's second hand and
resale stores for inexpensive clothing and accessories you can transform into a proper
pirate costume.

Materials:
Black pants or sweats White,
gold or striped long sleeved shirt Strip of red fabric for a
belt Cardboard and aluminum foil or plastic sword Red
bandanna Accessories such as eyepatch and pirate hook Stuffed
parrot Face make-up
First, cut the black pants legs to about 3/4
length below the knee leaving a jagged bottom. Tuck an oversized white or
gold shirt into the pants. A striped shirt would look great too,
particularly a red and white one. A strip of red fabric makes a suitable
belt or sash.
Tie a red bandanna around the child's head
and add some gold costume jewelry and a large clip-on gold earring. A plastic sword can be found where costumes are sold, or make your own from a piece
of cardboard covered with aluminum foil.
Add accessories such as an eyepatch, pirate's hook, telescope, and parrot perched
on the shoulder. Simply attach a small stuffed toy parrot
with velcro to add a jaunty look. This pirate kit contains you need to accessorize your costume...
Apply a thin layer of vaseline to
the child's face and sprinkle a little tobacco on for stubble. You can
also make stubble with the point of an eyeliner pencil or tiny dots
of facepaint. Black out a tooth with make-up and add a mustache,
bushy eyebrows and a red scar to complete the
effect.
