Shrek Costume IdeasShrek Costume - For a simple Shrek costume, start with a tan t-shirt. If you can't find one, get a white one and dye it in your washer with RIT dye. Next, belt it low around the waist with an adult's wide brown belt from the local thrift store. A little padding added to the tummy area will make your Shrek look more authentic. If you can't find a belt, you could also make a sash from a length of brown fabric. Next make a short vest from brown felt. Cut two armholes and tie the vest together in the front with a long brown shoelace. Add baggy brown pants from the thrift store. Cut jagged hemlines into each pant leg, if desired. Of course, you can't be Shrek with the famous shrek ears !
