Materials
Black slacks
White shirt
Black jacket (optional)
Black fabric or trash bag
Red Make-up
Plastic vampire teeth & Rubber Bat (optional)
A vampire costume is so simple to make. Start with black slacks, white shirt
and black jacket. If they’re not a part of your child’s wardrobe, they’re easy
enough to find in a second hand store. The jacket gives a more sophisticated
Dracula look, but is optional.
Now, for the all-important black cape. Get a length of black fabric - shiny
looks best - and wrap it around your child’s shoulders. Make sure there’s some
length to it for a dramatic effect. You can even use a black trash bag in a
pinch.
Vampire Face Paint
Sponge white face paint over the entire face and dab dark circles under each
eye. Feather in pointy eyebrows with a dark eyebrow pencil. Slick back hair to make it look wet and shiny.
Make a red drip from
one corner of the mouth with red face paint or try this recipe for fake
blood:
Fake Blood
Karo brand corn syrup
Red and blue food
coloring
Milk
Add some red food coloring to the corn syrup, then just
a drop or two of blue to get a more realistic dark color. Milk will make the
blood appear more opaque and more realistic. Note: This mixture is sticky and
can stain clothes.
Some plastic vampire teeth
and a rubber bat
are great optional props to add the final touch to your
little Count Dracula.
